Our Holiday Time

Our holiday started off great! We gotted to eat REAL HAM fer Christmas dinner! Of course, we were all super happy that Kimo wuz home to celebrate wif us, and we want to thank all our furriends for supporting our beans while Kimo went on a little "walkabout" . . .

Even the little bean gurl wuz furry happy - AND excited! We wuz all waiting fer Sandy Paws to arrive da next morning . . .

And look what he brought da gurl . . . a D O G! Can you believe it?! It walks and barks - luckily it duz not poop!

And Sandy Paws brought us furry schmousies - that wuz da best!

We will be making our annual New Year's Day rounds to all da furriends in our blogroll, so if you're not listed and wanna be, please let us know. We know there have been some furry fambly additions and losses this past year, so feel free to update us. It will take our secretary (da Mommakitty) about 8-10 hours to get around to all of you (or if she's slacking off, it could take a couple of days).

Hi bloggin' buddies - yep, it's me, Kimo. I'm HOME! I wanna thank all of you fer supporting my fambly while I was out on a walk-a-bout. I could feel da vibes tellin' me it wuz time to git my butt home . . . so here I am.

Are there any turkey leftovers? Ham? Anything? Sheesh - what does a cat gotta do to git a decent homecoming party around here?!

A Note from Mommakitty:

Dear friends and family - especially our Cat Blogosphere and FB friends - today, before picking up Kiera from school, I made a last minute decision to walk a specific area that a "pet communicator" spoke to me about - the one where I came across the chickens. I met with the homeowner of this property and asked if I could walk the entire property. I called at every corner, fence line, shed, boat, wood pile, garden area etc. While I was walking the property the chickens got all ruffled about something and scattered. My hope was that Kimo might have been coming out of hiding. Tonight when Daddykitty came home, he opened the door and said, "Look who's here" and pointed to the doorway - and in walked Kimo!

Kimo looks great - healthy, clean, no battle wounds - I can't even find any fleas on him. He was very cuddly and happy!

Thanks so much for your continued support during this past two weeks - I'm so proud to be part of such a great group of BEANS (and cats, dogs, hamsters, bunnies, . . .)!

Missing My Buddy . . .

Hi, Sabi here. I know a lot of you have been checking in since my brother Kimo went missing on 11/14. I am starting to miss him now. At first it was OK being the only cat in the house - I got a lot of attention and I guess I thought he would be back soon. But now I'm worried - especially since it's cold and rainy.

We usually are snuggle buddies on rainy days. I keep hoping he's just hiding in the house - so I wander around calling his name and sniffing every corner. But I've now realized he's not in the house - so I sniff at the doors, hoping to catch his scent or hear his voice.

Mommakitty goes searching every day, and lots during the night, and she hands out flyers and talks to people in the internet and phone. Some people think they have possibly seen him, so Mommakitty goes to those spots and looks for him - rain or shine.

Please keep purrraying for his safe and speedy return - and thanks for all the support.

Purrayers needed!

Hello kittehs and friends, Mommakitty here to give you an update. For those of you who don't already know, Kimo has been missing since Tuesday 11/14/11 around 2:00pm. He is an indoor only cat and has managed to slip outside - Daddykitty has been doing a lot of home and yard projects and he and the handyman go in and out all day. This is probably when Kimo planned his escape - waiting for the right moment to slip out went a door or window was left open a little by mistake.

We are very worried because of the cold weather we're having lately - low 30's at night. Plus, our cats do not go outside and so there is none of their mancat scent around the property for Kimo to get a wiff of home. He would also be a little skittish if strangers were to approach.

We're hoping he is hunkering down somewhere and keeping safe from other critters. We have lots of raccoons (larger than the cats) in the neighborhood, and other scary large animals - and CARS. We have checked the entire house inside - all cupboards, closets, crawl spaces, box springs, etc. Kimo would not waste a minute to come running if I were to shake a bag of treats. I knew for sure he was not in the house when I put our toddler to bed and he did not join us for story time - Kimo ALWAYS comes in Kiera's room to sit on the bed during story time and stays on her bed until she falls asleep. Luckily, at her age, she is easily distracted and in not aware of his absence . . . yet.

My husband and I have walked the neighborhood, (night & day), gone door to door, posted flyers, notified vets and and the animal shelter, and have put out some food. At the advice of a cat blogger, we scattered contents of the vacuum (full of cat hair) up the driveway and around the property hoping he will catch his scent and find his way home.

Your support and ongoing prayers are welcome and appreciated. I will post updates when I can. On Wednesday 11/16 I am taking the day off work to walk around when it's daylight and little warmer - plus I will continue to walk in the still of the night when I'd more likely hear his voice or see his laser eyes beam back to my flashlight. I will also keep updates on my FaceBook page (more often). Thanks again for all the support!

11/16/11 Update 4:33 pm - More walking around today, talking to neighbors, postman and city workers in area. I went to the shelter and they had a cat that looked a lot like Kimo in the face, and I sooo wanted it to be him - he had been trapped near our house on 11/10. This cat was not chipped and he had markings on his back that weren't Kimo. Also called the microchip company to register Kimo as being lost. Looks like something has nibbled on the food left outside.

Update 11/17/11, 1:20 pm - still no Kimo. Walked the neighborhood several times yesterday and last night. Received a couple of calls from neighbors about possible cats sounds (meowing/fighting), but when I went to check it out, nothing about Kimo. This morning there was evidence of more nibbling from one food dish, so I reduced 3 dishes to the one area hoping the nibbler will come only to that one spot (also put a his cat bed out in a box shelter).

Update 11/18/11, 11:11 pm - No real news today. FYI - the "handyman" carpenter is here M-F, and sometimes weekends - he's a neighborhood friend and always checks his vehicle. Tonight we're setting a cat trap. Fingers and paws crossed.

Update 11/19/11, 7:28 am - Nothing in the trap, but something did come close. I put about a pea size of food in a couple of places outside the trap that has been eaten. The little rug near the entry of the trap is dirty, but whatever it was didn't venture in.

Max hadded a grate time wifout his mom - but dis iz one cat that wuz not let outta da bag (he iz PSYCHO)!

Our Summer Vacation

A Flat Cat Adventure . . .

Spanning West to East and other places!

We just had a wonderful vacation in Pennsylvania - There wuz lots of sunshine and da grate out of doors to explore!

We stayed at a nice home (Leaman's) - friends of our Omie (grandmakitty). Our whole family (daddykitty's side) wuz there . . . aunts, uncles, cousins . . .

There WUZ vacancy until we all arrived . . . we filled da whole place!

Lots of da beautiful out of doors . . .

Da Leaman's actually live in da farm house behind us . . . da lodging is just fer guests.

Here's we are chillaxin' in da garden . . . and some of da cousins joined us.

Of course, we had a great time wif our gurl bean . . . rollin' and playin' in da cool grass! Every night we would hang outside and watch da fireflies light up da corn fields - it wuz a beautiful sight.

It wuz a nice vacation . . . but da best is yet to come! Instead of going back home wif our beans, we hitched a ride wif some of da cousins . . . you'll have to just wait and see where we go next!

Well, we're finally getting around to talkin' about some wonderful things . . . Like US!

Da blurp will not be in da contest this year - she's a little purrrsnickititty about wearing stuff (and she has da patience of a flea). But, she will be in da kid's parade wif her BFF.

Something weird happened this past week . . . da Blurp and I shared a chair. I'm get along well wif da Blurp and I usually sleep wif her each night, at da end of her bed (she's kinda squirmy). But, I has never shared a chair wif her. She wuz furry happy to share a chair wif me and she gave me sum luv-luvin'.
Da Blurp is growin' up so fast . . . and she is furry tech savvy. Da other day she played Skype wif Mr. Chen & Ollie's blurp!

Time for GREEN!

Product Review and Drawing

It's almost St. Patrick's Day . . . and we're going GREEN with a product review and drawing!

Kimo: Ahhhh . . . There's nothin' like a good game of "blankie wars" on a nice clean floor!

Sabi: But, our floor is not always this clean - especially wif a Blurp around. So, when we gots an opportunity to do a product review fer some cleanin' products, we said HECK YEAH!

Kimo: Here's our review of some products by the folks at Clean & Green. And, at the end of the review, we'll let you know how you might git some of this stuff fer FREE!!!

Sabi: As the website states, Clean & Green is an non-toxic, eco-friendly, aerosol pet odor remover and pet stain remover made from organic and biodegradable ingredients, and packaged so you can recycle the container. They offer a line of cleaning supplies fer carpet, wood & tile floors, that will clean up a host of animal smells and messies (including skunk odor removal).

Kimo: We were supplied these 2 products to test out:

1) Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner, Odor Eliminator & Stain Remover

2) Litter Box Odor Eliminator & Cleaner

Sabi: While we have PLENTY of messies to deal wif on a daily basis, I personally contributed some yack to test out the carpet cleaner. Here are the before and after shots:

Kimo: We were impressed. The carpet cleaner worked really well and we even tried it out on some stains contributed by Daddykitty (ie: drink spill spots, dirt tracked in from shoes) and the Blurp (ie: old projectile stains, food dropping stains, milk spills). The Blurp even gave a special contribution by tinkling on the carpet while she wuz runnin' around nekid after her bath time. The carpet cleaner cleaned up ALL these stains well, and we couldn't smell any ickyness or toxic smells afterwards!

Sabi: Next , we cleaned up da litter boyz box (and you know how messy us boyz can be). Again, the odor was completely gone. So, we would gladly endorse these 2 specific products.

Dark and Cloudy News . . .

We're givin' Mommakitty some extra luvvin this weekend cuz she lost her jobbie of nearly 13 yearz. Her jobbie said they had to trim some fat - our Momma is not fat! We wuz hoping this would mean she could stay home wif us more, but we really needs da green papers, so she will have to go day hunting after March 1st. Please send some purrs her way so she finds a new jobbie soon. Fanks fer yer loyal support.

We were furry sad to hear da news that our furriend Halloween crossed da Rainbow Bridge on 1/30/10. We did not meet Halloween in purrson, but our flat cats gotted to visit in October when Mommakitty hadded dinner wif some other bloggers at Halloween's home.

We say goodbye wif sadness in our hearts. Halloween live a long, lovely 17+ years in da beeyooteful San Francisco.

Kimo: We knows some of you ahve been wonderin' where we has been, cuz we're usually purdy good about keeping on top of our bloggie.

Sabi: Our main staff (Mommakitty) has been sooper busy at her jobbie cuz she gotted a new job assignment and she works like a squillion hours (definitely more that 40/wk). Plus da Blurp just keeps gittin' cootie bugs - one right after da other!

Kimo: We feel like we have missed so much . . . celebrations like weddings, new blurps on the way, contests, gotcha & purrthdays, and meeting new bloggers.

Sabi: And we've also missed so sad events - lost of kittehs crossing da bridge. We feel sad that we were not able to keep up wif all da news in a timely manner - especially da losses. We wished we could have sent our purrrs out in a more timely manner. Please know that we are trying to catch up on all da news, but probably won't be able to get around to visitin' fer this week.

Kimo: Mommakitty occasionally posts something quick on FaceBook - to keep da beens up to speed, but da Blurp is also not gittin' any help wif her bloggie.

Sabi: We have lots to catch you up on . . . our meeting wif da Flat Cats in San Francisco and meeting Jeter's mom, . . . da goings on of da Blurp, . . . and we have a few book give aways coming up too!

Sabi: One more day 'till we go to San Francisco with our "Flats" to meet Flat Jeter and his momma - don't we look great?!

Kimo: Um, . . . I don't know about you Sabi . . . but I am seein' RED! Look how small my flat is! Whut wuz Mommakitty thinkin'? She has an art degree even - apparently she isn't furry good at math!
Sabi: Hey . . . whut da . . . where's yer tail - and where's MY tail?! Talk about cuttin' corners - Mommakitty gits and "F" on this project!

Mommakitty: Um, . . . well I, . . . I didn't want Skeezix to feel so small compared to all you big man cats. Yeah - that's it - I MEANT to make you smaller. Besides, when we take photos of all the flat cats, the camera will add inches - right? (or is that pounds?)

Tuxie Tuesday Newsday

Well . . . we are finally ready to make a donation to Jeter Harris' mom for her TA-TA par-tay. We have been collecting coins all summer and depositing them fer mommakitty to count up.

We collected $124.17 - can you believe it?! We are gonna donate $100.00 to the TA-TA par-tay and then save da rest to buy something fer da blurp fer her 2nd purrthday in December.

BTW - da Blurp turned 21 on 9/13. She celebrated in her purrthday suit, of course. Oh - and she gotted a pressie . . . that we are not so fond of. Have you even seen one of these thingies? If you have a blurp and they gits one . . . HIDE IT! It makes lots of N-O-I-S-E (that spells headache) and there's NO OFF BUTTON!!!

Weekend Woes

Kimo: Well, it wuz bad enough that da Blurp brought 4 new canines into da house, NOW da beans fink she could have been popped by a chick-hen!

Sabi: Chick-hen pops?! Can we eat 'em? We likes Chick-hen!

Kimo: Nope - they is little spots all over da Blurp. Da beans is not sure if da Blurp has been totally popped by da chick-hen yet. Da Blurp may have something called Roseola instead. We just have to wait and see. Da beans has to quarantine da Blurp.

Sabi: Da Blurp and da beans is not happy. And it's a squillion degrees here on top of everything. It wuz 92 degrees at 9:00pm last night!

Kimo: And ANOTHER thing . . . when da beans went fer a walk late last night, Mommakitty gotted stung by a bee! Now Mommakitty is crankified.

Sabi: Whut a bummer. Well, things happen in three's - 1) canines, 2) Blurpy rash, 3) bee sting. We better just lay low this weekend.

Kimo: We hope everyone else has a better weekend!

Thoughts on Thursday . . .

I think Kimo would be a good judge on American Idol, but I'm partly sayin' that cuz he's my brother. There should really be a gurl to replace Paula Abdul (cuz she's a gurl).

I fink da BEST candidate to replace Paula would be Daisy cuz she gots really cute outfits and she's sooper sweet. That's just my opinion, but I fink this photo of her is a good example of her outstanding fashion sense.

Last night I wuz runnin' around and I knocked a jar over in da kitchen which spilled out some furry important contents.

Meezer Monday

Yes, friends . . . I am hiding.

Mommakitty found this thing near my kitteh cup! In real life, it is larger than a quarter when it's legs are stretched out. That's why I am only posting a small photo of it.

Da Blurp didn't seem to be afraid of it . . she wuz even gonna pick it up - Eeewwwww!

She decided to draw a picture of it before we send it off to da California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. That is where da spider expert lives and hopefully he will tell us why this critter keeps invading our domain!

The last time we sent a spider to da spider expert, he could not identify it cuz he thought it wuz some sort of hybrid. Hybrids are furry popular these days. All I know is I want this critter to leave me alone!

Mommakitty let's this . . . "thing". . . hang by da door. One time she tripped on him and said some bad werds. He didn't flinch. He is HEAVY and doesn't talk - at all! He used to live wif our grampakitty, so he must be a squillion years old. We will let him hang wif us fer now . . . after all, . . . he doesn't eat much (not at all) and he's quiet and he doesn't smell.

Tuxie Tuesday

Yesterday, some of you asked if we gotted a new post to replace da one we gave away to FreeCycle. Da answer is YES . . . as you can see from da photo.

We gotted our new post back in early January and it still looks brand new! It's called a Purrfect Post - and IT IS PURRFECT!!! Daisy was da one who recommended it to us.

We really did put some fun luvin' into da old post, but it really gotted messy and da Blurp wuz pullin' stuff off it too.

Speakin' of purrfect . . . da Blurp hadded her 18 month check up last Friday. You can read all about it at her bloggie . . . inclooding all da fun stuff she gotted to to during da weekend - she wuz rockin' out!

Kimo: We are trying to teach da Blurp some new werds, especially since da Scripps National Spelling Bee is Thursday (5/28)!

Sabi: Jeter Harris is Skeezix's official spelling coach, so we figured we'd use his skills to help da Blurp too.

Werd #1: LAFFIN

Origin: East Coast Tabby

Used in a Sentence: Jeter Harris is always laffin and laffin at his own jokes.

Definition: Something you do after Jeter Harris tells a good joke.

Kimo: It's always good to use a visual tool when teaching new werds.
Werd #2: GRATE

Origin: East Coast Tabby

Used in a Sentence: Life is grate.

Definition: Description of life (duhr).

Sabi: We learned some new werds on Memorial Day, which include (but are not limited to):

- Header: as in, . . . da Blurp tripped and took a header.

- Noggin: as in, . . . she hit her noggin on da piano leg.

- Goose Egg: as in, . . . she gotted a ginormous goose egg on her noggin.

Kimo: We learned a few other werds too - ones that Mommakitty screamed real loud. We fink some of these werds are on da bad werd list, so we won't repeat them.

Mommakitty: I was visiting with a group of Junior Leaguers, who have a special branch of the league called S.P.A.C. (State Public Affairs Committee) - members of this committee help write laws, work with legislators, and voice non-partisan support for issues relating to women and children. If you'd like to see more photos of California's State Capitol, look at Daddykitty's photos from a trip we took back in September 2008 (included w/ photos from a Tahoe trip). It's a beautiful building - unfortunately, I have never caught a glimpse of our "Governator."

Kimo: I guess the clue, "I'll be back" helped (that's one of Arnold's famous phrases from the first Terminator movie!)

FEV-VERS . . . and CHICK-HENS!

Kimo: Yesterday wuz da annual Petaluma Butter & Egg Days - where our town celebrates their history as da CHICK-HEN capitol of da werld!

Sabi: If you remember, last year da Blurp entered da "Cutest Chick In Town" contest and won 3rd place! This year her BOYfriend Aidan wuz in da contest.

Kimo: As you would imagine, it is too torturous fer us to even attend such an event wif all them CHICK-HENS runnin' around. So Daddykitty took lots of photos (see links at end of post).

I woke up Easter morning and found this sign . . . I assumed it was left by da Easter Bunny fer ME. But then da Blurp took it away and said it wuz a gift fer another blurp . . . her "boyfriend!" Since when did da Blurp git a boyfriend? Apparently she thinks she is 16 years old, instead of 16 months old! Pffft!
