Kimo: Wowy - it was hot today, and it's supposed to git even hotter this week!Sabi: I know what ya mean . . . I usually have a lot more energy, but this heat is sucking da life out of me! This girl has the right idea!
Kimo: This heat can literally kill a cat! We have to be furry careful in heat like this - to keep cool and hydrated. Did you know cats can suffer heat stroke just like beans?
Sabi: I know - and desperate times mean desperate measures! I usually hang out on da kitchen floor tile where it's cooler - some kitties like to hang out in bathtubs (sometimes even with a little water).
Kimo: It's even harder for cats that spend most of their time outside. Sometimes outdoor cats have to find water from fountains or ponds, but in this weather some of those things are dried up! There should always be water left out in big bowls and checked frequently. Sometimes it's nice to have a little ice put in the bowls too!
Sabi: And keep them fountains clean . . . there's nothing worse than having to watch a cat slurp some green sludge!Kimo: Did you know that cats wif pink noses and pads are very susceptible to skin cancer? With global warming, the sun's rays are furry dangerous these days. And basically, being indoor cats, we're just not as acclimated to da outdoors as well as those cats that spend most of their time outdoors.
Sabi: But it's like walking around in a fur coat indoors!!!
Kimo: That's why Mommakitty keeps da ceiling fan on for us, keeps da blinds down so we have shade, and always has water in our bowl. Did you know that just a 15% loss of water is enough to kill a cat?
Sabi: I got to lick some ice cubes today. . . then I got one stuck under the refrigerator!

P.S. from Mommakitty: Kimo and Sabi are not allowed to post about their stroller today because they had a fight last night. While in the house, Kimo was in the stroller (basically would not get out). Sabi attempted to get in it and Kimo threw the first swat . . . the cat fight was on! I'm sorry to report, on the day before their birthday, they are in a stroller time-out (but just for today). Yoo go Kimo!!!! SMAKDOWN! Yer lukky yoo at leest got sumthing fer yer berthday. Nobuddy arownd heer even reemembers that Wenzday is my berthday. Bad enuf I have to have the same berthday as Rocky, but nobuddy remembers it.

We thawt dat Sabi din't like da stroller! Or was it just cuz yoo was in it Kimo? We have da air condishuning on again - to hoomid fur mom. Zippy whaped me dis morning fur trying to sniff her ear. She's crabby again...
We are very lucky this week so far - the humidity is down and the temperature is only in the mid to high 80's! We are totally porch bound! Hope that you get some cooler weather too!

It's been getting really hots here too. My momma's been using the cold air machine a lot lately. But I have to tattle on her. We all had a dry water bowl yesterday morning when she gots up. It's time to clean out our waterfall water giver. We drink way more water when it's moving and momma can hear if the water ever gets low. The water just stopped moving like it used to. Momma's gonna try using vinegar with it. I hope she doesn't want me to drink vinegar water!
Tripper wint swimmin' in the sink today! He pooped and peed in his carrier on the way bak frum Bullevard Pet Hospitul so he had to git a bath to git all the dookie offa him. He sed it was vary refreshing. He also sed many werds on my bad werd list. I think he mite have liked it better if he'd bin waring a fashunubul swimsoot like the cat pikcher heer.

Thanks for the furry good tips for beatin' the heat. It hasn't been too bad here ... Our five ceiling fans are on and the security doors let some breezes in. If it gets too hot, we'll beg for the a/c.
