We're Baaaack!

Kimo: We missed a lot of stuff, but we're gonna try to catch up on some memes and stuff.

Sabi: Da first one is da "Desktop Screen Grab" meme. We gotted tagged by Chairman Mao & Tamra Maew for this one.

Kimo: Here's whut our computer desktop screen looks like:

Sabi: This is a photo of Mommakitty wif Geno kitty on da day before he crossed da bridge. We wrote a little about his story fer da "Food Lady of da Yeer" contest. Mommakitty keeps it furry organized.

Kimo: We has a Mac computer - and those are all our little application icons at da bottom of the screen. We also gots two hardrives, one is named Kimo and one is named Sabi (see upper right corner)!

Sabi: Speaking of names . . . da other meme is the Name meme - to tell how we gots our names, . . . but we already fergots who tagged us fer this meme (sorry).

Kimo: Well, since Mommakitty had already had some experience naming her former kitties, Daddykitty wanted to give a try at naming us. He wanted two names that went together like "Click & Clack" or "Polka & Dot" or "Tapi and Oca" (tapioca? NOT) - you see where this was going?

Sabi: Now, some of you know that Daddykitty is a computer nerd dude who develops software - he gots his own company called Intersight. He gots a reputation fer using a computer language called "Plone" so some beans call him da Plone Ranger . . .

Kimo: That's when he thought of our names - Kimo & Sabi, like Kimosabi (sometimes spelled Kemosabe) from da Lone Ranger series! Kimosabi means "trusted scout" or "faithful friend" in da story. We actually learned that it's a made up name!

Sabi: Here's whut we learned from da Urban Dictionary:
The Lone Ranger was a long-running early radio and television show based on a masked cowboy in the American Old West, who gallops about righting injustices, usually with the aid of a clever and laconic American Indian called Tonto, and his horse Silver.

Tonto greets the Lone Ranger with the expression "kemosabe", which has also been written "Kemo Sabe" or "Kemo Sabhay". The origin of this expression is somewhat unclear, but James Jewell, an early director of the radio series, said the name comes from a boy's camp located on Mullett Lake, Michigan that his father-in-law had run from 1911 to 1941. The translation was said to mean "trusty scout." Fran Striker, the writer of the Lone Ranger scripts, said the actual expression was Ta-i ke-mo sah-bee, which he said meant "greetings trusty scout". In the pilot of the Clayton Moore TV series, "Enter the Lone Ranger", Tonto explicitly states that "Kemosabe" means "trusty scout".

However, the phrase "faithful friend" has also been associated with the term Kemo Sabe.
Kimo: Anyhoo, . . . that's how we gots our names.

Sabi: Hmmm . . . seems there was another meme . . . but we fergits.

Kimo: BTW - Lord Jaders wanted us to pass on her "Thanks" fer all da kind wishes fer da passing of her Grrrrand Bean.

We're glad you're back. We were all very sad to learn about Lord Jaders' GrandBean. Please tell your Mommakitty we're purring for her too.

How you got your names is very exciting! How long did it take you to make your Daddykitty know them by ESP?

Let us know how you like the macbook pro when you get it. We'll probably be waiting until Christmas for ours--although the woman currently thinks the upgrade macbook with a 13 inch screen is probably good enough.
