Taking Action for Pets
Remember when we had a petition to git a stroller? Well, here's another furry important petition that we hope you consider signing - even more important than our stroller petition!
The Care2 Petition Site shared this story wif us:
Allie Phillips was an assistant prosecutor in the mid 1990's on many domestic violence cases. She said that one frequent concern she heard was 'If I testify or if I do not go back to him, he will kill my pet.' This is why Phillips and the American Humane Association created the Pets and Women's Shelters Program (PAWS)™.
"Between 71 and 85 percent of women entering domestic violence shelters reported that a partner had threatened, injured or killed the family pet, according to a study done in 1997. And when women are considering fleeing abusive homes, they often have to choose between leaving their pet behind or staying in the abusive relationship. American Humane is the leading organization raising awareness about The Link® between animal abuse and other forms of violence. PAWS can help alleviate domestic violence."
Please sign the pledge today to support programs like PAWS!

Thanks for letting us know about this great cause!
I'm on my way to sign it!
Thank you for posting this! Mom already signed the petition.
Oh this is so very important, thank you for bringing this issue up here! I wish it would be thought of here in the UK too, it doesn't matter who you are or where you are pets are at risk from man who're abusive of their wives...
It's a strange coincidence because this morning on the way into work, I heard on the radio how a man became violently upset with his girlfriend (who change the channel) that he flung her dog against the wall several times. The man has been arrested and is behind bars, the Vet said the dog looked like it had been hit by a car...it blew me away...it's really sad.
Thanks for posting this link.

Meowm signed this! It is very important!
We went over and signed it!
Our Mommy used to work at a battered women's shelter and she said this is true. It was not unusual for the abuser to kill a pet in order to exert more control over the spouse and/or any children in the household (Mommy could tell you some real horror stories). It is already hard enough for these women to dig up the courage to leave, anything that we can do to make it a bit easier is such a worthwhile cause!! Thanks for bringing this to the attention of the blogosphere!
That is really a great cause. I will support that!
I am getting my mommy to sign right away! That is one of the causes very important to her. Thanks so much for sharing, Kimo and Sabi!
Thats so important! Momma signed, she had a family member who had their poodles threatened with euthanasia. ~Queen Snickers

PeeEss: Sabi is a very expressive cat ,heehee
you are lucky!
unfortunately dadbean is not budging on the stroller, he said, no, no, no. he thinked our mommy wants the stroller and that I will be happier in of doors!!! we need to save ups our moneys and buy by our selfs.

That is a very good thing to point out. Animal abuse and other types of abuse are clearly closely linked. If a bean doesn't have respect for another living animal, then he/she probably doesn't have much respect for other beans either. We HATES animal abuse so much!!! Mommy is signing that petition right now.
Thanks!
Mr. Chen & Ollie
Thanks for posting about it.
I went and signed.
