Volunteer Victory!
Kimo: Today we are celebratin' Mommakitty cuz sometimes she is shy about gittin' recognition! Yesterday she spent all day at a Kinship Support Service Program conference in Los Angeles and was given big kuddos fer providing da best example (in da whole state) of a Scope of Practice document. Two years ago her program received da largest start-up grant in da whole state in da last 15 years ($280,000)!
Sabi: Then, when she gotted home last night, she had to go right away to an awards ceremony in da evening where she was given a U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award! She gotted da sliver medal!
Award Recipients Receive:- an official U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award medal (pin)
- a personalized Certificate of Achievement
- a congratulatory note from the President of the United States
- a letter of congratulations from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation
Kimo: AND, on top of that the volunteer organization (Junior League of Napa-Sonoma) awarded Mommakitty's kinship program (Sonoma Kinship Family Center) a $10,000 grant! WOWY - that would by a lot of NIP! But, da monies is going to help families that are raising their relative's children (maybe da kinship kitties will git some nip).
Sabi: Hopefully you can understand why Mommakitty didn't have time yesterday to help us wif our bloggie or git around to visitin' all da great Peace Globes. We will have to play catch-up in da next couple of days.
Kimo: Next year (fiscal year starting 7/1/08) Mommakitty says she is pulling back from some of da volunteering cuz she wants to spend more time wif our new blurpy sisser AND US!
Sabi: Yippee! More Mommakitty time fer us!
Mommakitty: Yippee - no more board reports and less committee work for me! More PEACE & quite!

Many congratulations to your Mom. She has done a fantastic job volunteering. I am glad that she is going to be spending more time at home with you and the blurpy thing, though. I am really glad that you didn't get much shaken up in the earthquake.
Mommy's makin funny noizes. It sounds kinda like "I'll stop Mommakitty if she'll stop me" or somefin. Anyways, more mommakitty time is good :)
